Kats lesson 10/10/13

During Kats lesson we concentrated on looking at the structure of dances such as Rondo or narrative. We had to create a short dance using one of the structures. My group chose to look at a Rondo structure this is because we had a motif and a climax meaning we showed the motif more then once e.g. (A, B, A, C, A, D) every time there is an A in that sequance it was the motif which had been developed. The B was a different movement, the c was the climac and the D was the ending. We took notes from this lesson to help us know what type of structure to use in our duets suh as possibly using a Narrative structure to tell a story.

Kat's Lesson 03/10/13

In Kat's lesson we concentrated on Choreographic Principals. We looked at the stimuli 'Era's of dance' to give us idea's for our duet. We got into groups of 5 and where given a picture of the musical 'Cabaret' a film about a club involving Nazi's and woman during the World war. We had to come up with a freeze frame which we felt related to the picture and then go on to create a short faze of movements to go with the picture. i feel my group responded to the stimuli well as we included movements we'd expect to see in the year the musical was released. We demonstrated motif development by using 2 motifs with similar actions used in different ways. We applied a narrative structure to our dance meaning we told a story with our movements and facial expressions. The work shop helped me develop ideas for my duet such as using a narrative structure and making sure we used facial expressions.
